Special Household Hazardous Waste Event being held Saturday, April 21, 2012
The Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) is pleased to be partnering with New Castle County Government to hold a special Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the New Castle County Government Center located at 87 Reads Way in New Castle, DE. The event is being held from 8am-4pm and is free for all Delaware Residents. Household Hazardous Waste can include items such as household cleaners, garden pesticides, oil-based paints only (no latex paint will be accepted), nail polish, fluorescent bulbs, or antifreeze. This event is restricted to residents’ only, no commercial services. The event will be held rain or shine.
“We are delighted to partner with the DSWA in sponsoring this important event, which helps protect families and our environment. It’s a great lead-in to the following day’s Earth Day observance,” said County Executive Paul G. Clark.
DSWA is no longer permitted to accept medication during its Household Hazardous Waste events. Residents wishing to dispose of medication should contact the State of Delaware Board of Pharmacy at 302-744-4500.

Our State Legislator, Bryon Short would like to walk through the neighborhood with us to access the Civic Association’s needs. We will be able to express our concerns or changes we may want.
We will meet next Friday, March 23rd at 3:15PM at the entrance to the development where Kennwynn, Wynnwood and Patwynn meet.
The Annual Christina River Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 21. Along Naamans Creek we will be working from 8:00 to noon. As usual we will meet behind Sweeney’s in the F&N Shopping Center and fan out from there. The businesses around Naamans and Foulk supply lunch for volunteers. We can supply vouchers for service hours for students.
The date is always selected from tide data to facilitate cleanup in the marshes and wetlands along the Christina River. Last year we collected over 2 tons of trash along the Naamans and from DelDOT stormwater basins and about 20 tons in the entire cleanup. By the looks of the area we clean even more should be collected this year.

Our annual civic association dues will be collected on Sunday (SUPER BOWL SUNDAY) February 5th. Dues are again $50.00 per household. Please make your check payable to Wynnwood Civic Association. Your Block Captain will visit you during the course of the day. If you will not be available, please forward your dues payment to our Treasurer, Karen Grant, 2307 Kennwynn Road.
